Terms of Use

Last updated: October 18, 2026

Welcome to A-A-RON ENGRAVED (www.a-a-ron-engraved.ca). These terms explain the rules for using this website and its free tools. They are written in plain language, but they are still a real agreement. By using the site or downloading a file from it, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

The site is run by Aaron McLean, a sole proprietor in Penhold, Alberta, Canada. In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean A-A-RON ENGRAVED. "You" means the person using the site.

1. What the site offers

  • Free tools. The site has free, browser-based design tools for laser engravers, laser cutters, CNC machines and 3D printers. You don't need an account and there is nothing to pay.

  • Custom engraving. Custom engraving is available for past customers. If that's you, contact us by email. These terms do not cover engraving orders; we agree on those with you directly, in writing.

  • Who can use the site. You must be at least 13 to use the site. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), use it with a parent or guardian, and only run a laser, CNC machine or 3D printer with an adult supervising.

We may add, change, pause or remove any tool or feature at any time.

2. Safety comes first: you run your machine

Lasers, CNC machines and 3D printers can start fires, hurt people and damage property. Please read this part carefully.

  • Settings are starting points only. Power, speed and other settings in the tools and in the files they make are rough starting points. Every machine, lens, material and sheet is different.

  • Settings are not tested or certified. We have not tested the settings on your machine, material or setup, and no setting is guaranteed to be safe. If a result looks wrong (flames, heavy smoke, the wrong size), stop the machine.

  • Always test first. Run a test on scrap before every real job. The Laser Test Grid tool can help you find the right settings for your own machine.

  • Never leave your machine unattended while it is running. Keep a fire extinguisher close and use proper ventilation and eye protection.

  • Check every file before you run it. Look at the size, the layers, the cut lines and the settings in your own software (such as LightBurn) before you start.

  • Know your materials. Some materials give off toxic or corrosive fumes when burned (for example PVC and vinyl). It is your job to know what is safe to cut or engrave.

  • Follow the maker's instructions for your machine, and any safety laws that apply to you.

  • Estimates are estimates. Burn times, prices, material use and sizes shown by the tools are guesses to help you plan. Measure your own parts and check the numbers before you rely on them. Price and cost estimates are for planning only and aren't business or tax advice.

You are responsible for how you set up and run your machine.

3. The tools are provided "as is"

The tools are free and still improving. We do our best, but we can't promise they will always work, be accurate, or be free of mistakes. We provide the site and the tools "as is" and "as available", without any promise (warranty) of any kind, as far as the law allows. This includes any promise that a file will fit, cut, print or engrave correctly, or that it will suit your purpose.

4. You use the site at your own risk

You choose your settings, materials and machine, and you are responsible for running it safely. The tools only suggest starting points. You use the site and the tools at your own risk.

As far as the law allows:

  • We are not responsible for losses from using the tools. This includes damage to your machine or property, wasted material, lost sales, lost data, or problems with a file, as long as we haven't acted in bad faith or been grossly careless.

  • A final limit. If we are found responsible anyway, our total responsibility to you for everything related to the free site and tools is limited to $100 CAD.

  • What these limits don't cover. These limits don't apply to anything the law doesn't let us limit, such as (where that law applies to you) injury or death caused by our negligence, fraud, or harm we caused on purpose.

  • If you sell what you make. If you use the tools in a business and someone makes a claim against us because of a product you made or sold, or because you used someone else's photo, logo or design without permission, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim (including reasonable legal fees) to the extent the claim was caused by you.

If you live in Quebec or another place whose consumer laws give you rights these terms can't take away, those rights still apply, and the limits above apply only as far as those laws allow.

If you live in the United States: some states don't allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so some of section 3 or 4 may not apply to you, and you may have other rights that vary by state.

5. What you make is yours

  • Your content stays yours. Your photos, logos, words, names and designs belong to you (or to whoever owns them). Using the tools does not give us any rights to them. The tools run in your browser, so we don't receive them. See our Privacy Policy.

  • Use only content you have the right to use. Only put in photos, logos, artwork and names that you own or have permission to use. Don't use other people's trademarks, characters or art without permission.

  • You are responsible for what you put in and what you make. You choose the photos, logos, art, fonts, names and other material you use in the tools, and what you make and sell with them. You are responsible for having the rights to that material. We don't review, host or approve what you make.

6. What you may do with the files

  • You may make and sell physical items with the files the tools make, for personal or business use. For example, you may sell the ornaments, signs, tags, boxes, maps or cups you make.

  • Don't resell our designs as files. You may not sell or give away the tools' built-in designs (such as patterns, scenes, frames, ornaments and decorations), or files that are mostly made of them, as templates, design packs or digital downloads. Files you make from your own photos, art or words are yours to use as you like. This rule is about our designs as files, not about the things you make with them.

  • Keep required credits. Some files contain map data from OpenStreetMap. If you sell or show items made with that data, keep the credit "© OpenStreetMap contributors" (on the item, its tag, or your listing). The Street Map tool can engrave that line for you.

7. Our property

The site, the tools, their code and design, and our name, logo and sample images belong to A-A-RON ENGRAVED or to the people who license them to us. You may use the tools as they are on our site. You may not:

  • copy, rehost, re-sell or frame the tools or the site, or offer them as part of another product or service; or

  • remove our credits or anyone else's credits and licence notices.

The tools use some open-source code, fonts, AI models and public data. Those parts stay under their own licences. Credits are listed at the bottom of each tool.

Product and brand names mentioned in the tools (for example LightBurn, or tumbler and laser brands) belong to their owners. We use them only to say what a tool works with. We aren't affiliated with or endorsed by them unless we say so.

8. Copyright and trademark concerns

We use our own original designs and material that is licensed for commercial use, and we credit our sources at the bottom of each tool.

If you believe something on our site infringes your copyright or trademark, please email info@a-a-ron-engraved.ca with:

  • what work you believe is infringed, and that you own it or may act for the owner;

  • where it appears on our site (the page or tool, and what it is);

  • your name and contact details; and

  • a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn't authorised.

We'll review every notice. If a claim is valid, we'll fix it promptly, for example by removing or replacing the material.

Designs you make are your responsibility, not ours. The tools run in your browser, so we don't see, host or store what you put in or make. If a claim is about something you made, sold or shared using material you chose (such as a photo, logo, character, font or artwork), it's between you and the person making the claim. If you make or sell it in a business, section 4 says you will cover our reasonable costs if a claim is made against us because of it.

9. Fair use of the site

Please don't:

  • break the law, or use the tools to make anything illegal, hateful or harmful;

  • try to break, overload, hack or get around the site's security or limits;

  • use bots or scripts to run the tools or to send lots of searches to the map services; or

  • use the site in a way that hurts other people or the services we rely on.

We may block access to anyone who breaks these rules.

10. Other services the tools use

Some tools fetch things from other services, such as map data, place search, fonts, code libraries and AI models (see the Privacy Policy for the list). Those services have their own terms and may be slow or unavailable at times. We are not responsible for them. Links to other sites, such as our Facebook group, are there to help you; we don't control those sites.

Ads, sponsors and partners. The site may show ads, sponsored tools or content, and links to sponsors, partners or affiliates, and we may earn money from them. That is part of how the tools stay free. Sponsored tools and content are marked "Sponsored", and affiliate links are marked where they appear (for example "affiliate link: we may earn a commission"). Any product, service or offer from an advertiser, sponsor or partner is theirs, not ours: deal with them directly and check them yourself. As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for their products, services, sites or claims.

11. Credits for outside data

Some tools use data from others, credited at the bottom of each tool. For example:

  • Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL).

  • Place search by Nominatim (OpenStreetMap).

  • Map heights from Terrain Tiles (Mapzen, AWS Open Data) and the data sources listed in the Layered Cutouts tool.

  • Map tiles © OpenMapTiles, served by OpenFreeMap.

  • Stars from the Yale Bright Star Catalogue (public domain), planet positions from NASA JPL (public domain), and constellation lines from d3-celestial (BSD licence).

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add a tool or a feature, or when the law changes. When we do, we'll post the new version here and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is important, we'll also show a notice on the site for at least 30 days. Changes apply from the date they are posted and don't apply to anything that happened before then. If you keep using the site after that date, the new terms apply to you. If you don't agree, please stop using the site.

We also reserve the right, at any time and without liability to you, to:

  • change, pause or stop any part of the site or any tool, or the whole site;

  • limit or block access for anyone, at our discretion; and

  • remove any content or feature.

The tools are free, and nothing in these terms means we have to keep offering them.

13. The law that applies

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute will be handled in the courts of Alberta, unless the law where you live gives you a right to use your local courts.

If you live in Quebec: the sections that limit our responsibility or ask you to cover our costs (section 4) apply only as far as the Quebec Consumer Protection Act and the Civil Code of Québec allow, and you can bring a claim in the courts of Quebec.

14. If part of these terms doesn't hold up

If a court decides that part of these terms can't be enforced, that part will be read to do as much as the law allows, and the rest still applies.

15. General

  • Whole agreement. These terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the free site and tools. Engraving orders for past customers are covered by what we agree with you in writing.

  • No waiver. If we don't enforce part of these terms right away, we can still enforce it later.

  • Transfer. We may transfer these terms to someone who takes over the site or the business. You may not transfer them without our permission.

  • What continues. Sections 2 to 8 and 13 to 15 keep applying even after you stop using the site.

  • Notices. We may give you notice by posting it on the site. You can give us notice by emailing info@a-a-ron-engraved.ca.

  • Small claims. Nothing in these terms stops either of us from using a small claims court.

  • Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely, without paying you or owing you anything.
