How to use it
- 1. Pick a shape, a size from 60 to 120 mm, and 3 or 4 layers.
- 2. Pick a back, a scene and a front. Press Remix on any layer until you like it.
- 3. Type the name and a second line, like the year.
- 4. Pick your material and a colour for each layer.
- 5. Check that every layer is one piece, and download.
A rounded square or rectangle can hold a photo: a printed picture slides in from the top, behind the scene or on the back.
What you can make
- • Personalised name ornaments to sell at Christmas markets
- • Baby's First Christmas and family ornaments with the year
- • Photo ornaments with a picture behind the scene
Questions
Which files and machines?
LightBurn, an SVG for xTool Creative Space, Glowforge or Inkscape, and a DXF in millimetres, with every layer in one file.
Which materials work?
3 mm plywood, 1.5 mm plywood or card, and 3 mm acrylic, mirror gold and silver included. No part is thinner than your material can hold.
Will the layers line up?
Yes. Every layer has the same outline, and you can add pin holes or a glue-up jig.
Can I sell the ornaments?
Yes. Every scene is drawn by the tool's own code, so there is no clip-art licence to worry about. The fonts are under the Open Font License.
Will the name read clearly?
Engraved words are the true letter shapes and read at any size. Raised or cut-out letters are checked, with a one-tap fix.
Can I put a photo in it?
Yes, in a rounded square or rectangle. A thin spacer makes a pocket open at the top, and the tool gives the exact print size and a 300 dpi template.
